Bu'sen Martial Arts for children
JUDO
The Anglo-Japenese judo club was founded by Karou Mishiku Sensei in 1929. Mishiku Sensei was a graduate of the Sekai Butokukai, which was the premier Martial Arts University of Japan.
CHIEF INSTRUCTOR - FRANK T PERRY
The chief Instructor at the club is sensei Frank T Perry who is one of the leading exponents of martial arts in thie UK. Sensei Perry began his instruction at the age of 4, under the late Mishiku Sensei, and won his first Black Belt aged 14. After Mishiku Sensei's death, Sensei Perry travelled abroad and studied under various Japanese Teachers.
He has fought at National and International level and is currently the area representative of the International Judo council. Sensei Perry also teaches Karate and associated martial arts.
Sensei Perry is assisted throughout the week by Sensei D Clarke 4th Dan and Sensei P Alexander, 2nd Dan.
EQUIPMENT
The sooner you can purchase a judo suit for your child the better. Judo suits are available from the club together with association badges. Loose clothing or a tracksuit may be worn for the first two or three training sessions.
CLUB EVENTS
Once your child has completed two or three months training he/she will be able to enter local and national events. Our club has a very good contest record having produced: Area, regional, Southern England and National champions. However, parents should always bear in mind that contests are only one part of Judo training and that what we really are trying to teach is the pleasure of being a controlled and skilful Judo Ka.
GRADINGS
Your child will be allowed toenter 3 judo gradings or assessments per year; providing they have attended at least 70% of the training sessions between each grading. Upto the age of 10, your child will add to their white belt when they are successful. Under thsisystem even very young children can see their progree without having to take severe exams! And as every parent knows nothing succeeds like success!

SEIKI-JUKU KARATE
The style of Karate practised at Bu'sen is Seiki Juku. This is not merely a style of karate, but a philosophy, laying great emphasis on safety, discipline and the building of confidence. when your child studies karate within this system they will learn, by action and not words, that the care of others around them is also their responsibility.

Frank T Perry is one of the leading exponents of martiAl arts in the UK, and was trained from the age of 4 by the late Sensei Kaoru Mishiku, master of traditional Japanese instruction who pioneered Martial Arts teaching in Britain. Sensei Perry also studied abroad under leading Japanese instructor of world champion ranking.
He holds the rank of Kyoshi, and is the National Sportko coach.

All students will need to train twice a week in order to gain the necessary number of hours required to take the grading or assesment which are held four times a year. When your child is successful they will be entitiled to a coloured belt and will move onto more advanced techniques, thereby ensuring that their learning process is continuous. Under this system of grading, even very young children can see their progress without having to take severe exams! as every parent knows nothing succeeds like success!
